Project Brief
3D fashion design is my best interest in 3D digital technology. As a first step, I started outfit design for 3D avator in Metaverce world.
Purpose
I study 3D Visualization in University. As a 3rd year student, I decided to use 3D skills for not only uni work, but also for my interest. I started looking for the platform and project which I can show my design for a lot of people with judging the level. Then, I found Zepeto. As a first step, I started outfit design for 3D avator in Metaverce world. I used Zepeto as communication app with real friends. It is also Social Media, so I can get the comment and popular level by users. SO I create creator account and resistered in Zepeto studio. The purpose of this project is getting the evaluation from peoples and enjoying 3D design with my interest.
Zepeto
Zepeto is a famous meterverse app in Asia market. There is over 300 million users. People can easily create avatars by simply taking pictures and edting by using your smartphone, and while enjoying the fashion them put on avatars, users can gather together to take pictures and animations inside ZEPETO. Also Animation and pictures can posted in Instagram and Tiktok.
Also Zepeto world and fashion made by 2.3 creator in the world. If people can use software, they can make Envirnment and fashion contents design easily.
Basically, Zepeto use Maya and Unity for 3D contents design. so it match my interest and skills. Then I started to design them from 2021.
2D Design
I started 2D design as first step before making 3D design. It is like texture design after UV mapping, I make graphic in photoshop by folloing original UV mapping.
3D contents design Maya
Zepeto recomended Maya to use for 3D design, so I started learning Maya. Firstly, The base set file which is 3D avator mesh is exported in Maya. Then create original design. It is difficult to make natural and realistic wave and crease of outfits materials without mesh overrlap.
3D contents design Blender
I usually use Blender for other 3D project. From the reaerch in youtube, some creator make 3D Zepeto design in Blender. So I changed from Maya to Blender. The creation of shape from line base in Blender is helpful for me to make natural wave easily. ALso Blender makes Rigging and putting weight modefication easier than Maya.
Rigging
Rigging is significant role for ainmation platform in Zepeto, At the first, I create Joints by importing fbx file from Zepeto studio and fixing the details. After making joint, I put weight modifications. It is completed as an fbx file by repeating modifications and weight painting. The study which i did chracter design in first year is used in this part vwry much.
Texture Design
The texture is most important design in fashion. At the first select mesh and make UV mapping. Then 2D texture design is made by photoshop and uploaded as UV texture. Just change this 2D design, I can make several pattern in same shape.
Unity for Avator animation
After Rigging and checking mesh, it will be put in unity and converted. Manage material texture and converted files with Zepeto studio fbx files. It will be changed 4 sizes mesh diffrence for avator body style. It will makes 3D design works for animation and style changing in Zepeto world.
Make money
I sent my design in Zepeto studio, they checked design and they will be uploaded. It will sold free or Zepeto coin in Zepeto world. I create various types of content so they earn profits.
