Project Brief
This report will explore the possibility to utilize 3D digital technology in the fashion supply chain. Research within these fields will reveal diverse perspectives for critical analysis and evaluation, and the validity of the thesis question.
Assingment and Brief
This dissertation project is made from 2 part. Firstly, Research Report in Semester1 is maximum 4000 words (exc. refs, quotes & appendices)Students will submit a research report outline which includes their literature review for their dissertation at the endof semester 1.It is Weighting 25%. In semester 2, Final issertation submission is maximum 10,000 words inc. Sem 1 Research Report. It is weighting 75%.
This will be a research report of university research, exploring how his university studies and skills can be applied in the latest fad digital media industry, and will result in a thesis based on in-depth research into the state of 3D.
Brainstorming
Fashion is my hobby and 3D is my professional field of study. I thought that by combining both, I could conduct in-depth research alongside my own interests.
At the first I made brainstorming from my knowledge which I had before I start research. Then I decided title. After that, I started initial research from website and though aim and objectives.
On the other hand, I got inspiration from this website about How 3D changed fashion workflow. For a long time, the workflow in the apparel industry has been a one-way flow of 'planning', 'production', 'distribution' and 'sales'. However, Mitsubishi fashion corporation, have talked recently about if 3DCG data can be used to visualize and share product images from the development stage, it will be possible to build a workflow that can proceed from 'planning' to 'sales' simultaneously. (Mitsubishi,2022) I focused on this topic for my base thinking.
Aim and theme
The fashion industry, which is an integral part of daily life and generates significant global logistics, has
been hindered by environmental pollution, low-paid labor, and massive disposal of clothing waste due
to production and sales that cannot keep up with the fast-paced fashion trends. The latest 3D
developments that will change the supply chain will provide a solution to these problems and lay the
foundations for the further development of the fashion industry.
Aim:
To study how the fashion business can be transformed through 3d modeling; covering all steps, from the
production to the delivery of products for customers.
Objectives
Fashion Supplychain
Analyse fashion's industrial background and its supply chain through the following stages.
3D x Fashion
Investigate the significant potential for the development and use of 3D technologies and software in the fashion industry.
Applycaition Example
Consider the application of 3D technology in fashion supply chains following the examples of which fashion companies design, communicate, produce, and market.
A Variety Impact
Explore the impact of sustainability, economic, product quality and UX which 3D technologies regulate in the fashion industry.
Literature Review
For the goals I am setting myself I have broken them down into S.M.A.R.T goals to better structure these objectives to make them easier to understand.

Methodology
Primary Research
The primary research is scheduled to be implemented in semester 2. The preparation for the primary
research is key for researching the gap in the fashion industry. Surveys for the target audience who are
working in the fashion industry and consumers are set for the primary research.
The 2 surveys will be made by google form and posted in Facebook groups which are for workers and
designers in fashion companies and communities of sharing fashion news. The goal is set
for getting over 100 answers in each survey.
Secondary Research
The information in this dissertation was from a diverse range of databases and articles and credible websites, to maintain the relevance and clarity of the report. The utilization of 3D in the fashion industry, with its latest specifications, is a topic that requires constant input from 2 industry aspects which are fashion and the 3D industry.
The collection of legitimate information in line with the set objectives will be developed and the qualitative and quantitative information will be analyzed for the dissertation discussion.
Time Management
This is my Gannt chart for my dissertation timeline from September 2022 to May 2023. This project is divided into 2 parts each semester. First, the research report for the dissertation is written in semester
1. It is focused on the schedule plan and secondary research. The essay in semester 1 represented an
introduction, literature review and methodology. Second, the final dissertation will be written in
semester 2. The primary research and discussion part will be finalized.
The plan for writing the graduation thesis is to check the structure, dig deeper to see whether the content answers the Aim and Objective and get feedback, and finally concentrate on writing.
As part of risk management, the overall key dates, and a stable timeline with sufficient time to complete
the project should be determined. To avoid the risk of delays in the future, the Surveys questions should
be completed by the end of January, before the start of semester 2. Then The answers will be collected
in the first month and a half of semester 2. So that time can be allocated to analyzing the research responses.
The collection of information is concentrated in the first semester and beginning of semester 2. Then it
makes to repeat checking structure and feedback so that writing can be completed in earnest in the
second semester. All activities are carried out in accordance with the above gannt chart and are time
managed to predict risks.
Semester 1 submission
I submitted Semester 1 Research Report Outline on 21st Dec 2022. It is included Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Reference, Bibliography, Appendices. Final deadline for dissertation is 8th May 2023.
